Penguins Kill Polar Bears

“Penguins Kill Polar Bears deservedly follow in the footsteps of groups like Aereogramme, Biffy Clyro and newer friends and contemporaries like The XCerts.” -The Scotsman

Vessels & Veins is the second EP from Scottish post-rock monsters Penguins Kill Polar Bears. The band, formed in the winter of 2008, are Ben Proudlock (guitars, vocals), Fraser Sanaghan (guitars), Gavin Cormack (bass), and Kieran McGuickan (drums).

The EP is a sweeping masterpiece, showcasing a band that are as comfortable with experimentation as they are with tried and true rock formulas. Each track explodes into action, with sheets of reverb-laden guitars, layered over the top of throbbing percussion, and offset by Ben’s raw vocals. It’s no surprise that Aereogramme are listed as one of their major influences.

Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP Dawn in June 2010, the band have been busy building their profile in their home country, supporting the likes of Twin Atlantic, The Xcerts and Nine Black Alps. They’ve also sold out various headline gigs and are, in their own right, a band not to be missed. In fact, Scottish music blog Sound Surrounds recently named PKPB a Best Live Band, calling the band “explosive and a pleasure to the senses.”

One of Scotland’s most exciting young bands of the early 2010s, Penguins Kill Polar Bears have paired up with Dromedary to release Vessels & Veins in North America as an intro to this great band. Featuring four brand-new tracks plus two remixed tracks from Dawn, the US version of the EP will be available in March of 2011 on CD and digital download.
